A.-E. Godet is a French sculptor. He worked in the field of monumental, memorial, easel sculpture. The sculpture "Jeanne d'Arc on horseback" was made in 1885. Jeanne d'Arc (c. 1412 - 1431) - people's heroine of France. During the Hundred Years War (1337 - 1453) she headed the struggle of the French people against the British invaders. Falling into the hands of the British, she was declared a witch and burned at the stake.
